Christmas Oreos

Christmas Oreos

  • Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 package (14.3 ounces) Oreo cookies
  • 16 ounces white candy melts or white chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons red and green holiday sprinkles
  • 2 ounces dark chocolate or red candy melts for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preparation. Begin by lining a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This ensures the cookies do not stick once the coating sets. Set up a station with your cookies, sprinkles, and any other decorations so they are ready to go as soon as the chocolate is melted.
  2. Step 2: Melt the Coating. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white candy melts and coconut oil. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each session until the mixture is completely smooth. Stir in the alcohol-free vanilla extract to give the coating a lovely aromatic boost.
  3. Step 3: Dip the Cookies. Drop one Oreo into the melted mixture at a time. Use a fork to flip the cookie and ensure it is fully coated. Lift the cookie with the fork and gently tap it against the side of the bowl to let the excess coating drip off. This creates a clean and professional finish.
  4. Step 4: Add the Decorations. Carefully place the coated cookie onto the prepared parchment paper. While the coating is still wet, immediately add your red and green sprinkles. If you wait too long, the coating will harden and the decorations will not stick. If you are using a drizzle, let the base coat set for five minutes first.
  5. Step 5: Let the Cookies Set. Allow the cookies to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes until the coating is firm to the touch. If you are in a hurry, you can place the tray in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes. Once they are fully set, they are ready to be served or packaged.
