Crack Green Bean

Crack Green Bean

  • Total Time: 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 5 cans (14.5 ounces each) whole green beans, drained
  • 12 slices turkey bacon, cooked until crisp and chopped
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or a light coating of oil to prevent the sugar from sticking to the sides during the caramelization process.
  2. Drain the cans of green beans thoroughly to ensure the sauce doesn’t become too watery. Spread the beans evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the crispy, chopped turkey bacon bits over the top of the green beans, ensuring they are well distributed.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until the sugar is largely dissolved and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  4. Pour the glaze evenly over the green beans and turkey bacon. Use a spoon or spatula to gently toss the beans if you want them fully submerged, though leaving the turkey bacon on top helps it maintain some texture.
  5. Place the dish in the center of the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. The sauce should be bubbling and the beans should look glazed and tender. Halfway through the baking time, you can gently stir the beans to ensure the flavors are well incorporated.
