Christmas Charcuterie Platter

Christmas Charcuterie Platter

  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 200 grams sharp cheddar cheese, cubed
  • 150 grams brie cheese, whole wheel or sliced
  • 150 grams smoked gouda, sliced into triangles
  • 100 grams beef salami, thinly sliced and folded
  • 100 grams smoked turkey breast, rolled tightly
  • 1 cup red grapes, kept in small clusters
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries, for sweetness
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or almonds, lightly toasted
  • 1/4 cup honey or fig jam, for drizzling
  • 1 box assorted crackers, including buttery and multigrain varieties
  • 5 sprigs fresh rosemary, for decoration
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds, for a festive pop of color

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Choose and Prepare the Board: Select a large wooden board or a flat slate platter. Ensure it is clean and dry before you begin. If you are using a dip or honey, place small decorative bowls on the board first to act as anchors for the rest of your ingredients.
  2. Step 2: Position the Cheeses: Place the brie wheel, cheddar cubes, and gouda triangles in different areas of the board. I like to keep them somewhat separated to create distinct zones for different flavor profiles. Leave enough space between them for the meats and crackers.
  3. Step 3: Add the Savory Meats: Fold the beef salami into quarters or fans and nestle them next to the harder cheeses. Roll the smoked turkey breast tightly and tuck them into any open gaps. Creating movement with the way you fold the meats makes the board look more professional and inviting.
  4. Step 4: Incorporate Fruits and Nuts: Arrange the grape clusters near the brie and scatter the dried cranberries and nuts in the remaining small spaces. These smaller items act as “fillers” that make the board look lush and abundant. Sprinkle the pomegranate seeds over the cheeses for a beautiful jeweled effect.
  5. Step 5: Add Crackers and Final Garnishes: Fan the crackers around the edges of the board or in a flowing line through the middle. Finally, tuck the fresh rosemary sprigs under the meats and cheeses to mimic the look of a Christmas wreath or evergreen branches.
