Cheesy Pull-Apart Christmas Tree Bread

Cheesy Pull-Apart Christmas Tree Bread

  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound refrigerated pizza dough (room temperature)
  • 7 ounces mozzarella cheese sticks, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Take your pizza dough out of the refrigerator and let it sit for about 15 minutes so it becomes easier to stretch and shape. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and rosemary, then set it aside.
  2. Divide the pizza dough into approximately 30 to 32 equal sized pieces. The easiest way to do this is to roll the dough into long ropes and cut them into small nuggets. Each piece should be large enough to wrap around a chunk of cheese without being too bulky.
  3. Flatten one piece of dough in your palm and place a piece of mozzarella in the center. Pinch the edges of the dough together tightly to seal the cheese inside, then roll it into a smooth ball. Repeat this process until all your dough pieces are filled and sealed.
  4. Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet in a triangle shape to mimic a Christmas tree. Start with one ball at the top, then two below it, and continue increasing the count until you reach the base. Use the remaining three or four balls to form a small trunk at the bottom center of the triangle. Ensure the balls are touching but not packed too tightly as they will expand during baking.
  5. Brush about half of the garlic butter mixture over the top of the dough balls. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. If any cheese leaks out, do not worry, as it adds to the rustic holiday charm.
  6. Remove the tray from the oven and immediately brush the remaining garlic butter over the hot bread. Sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese and a pinch of extra salt over the top while it is still glistening. Serve warm with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
